Holidays for Celebrating Chile Peppers

Pepper Holidays

Chile peppers have become such an enjoyable part of our respective cultures that they've inspired a number of holidays that either directly celebrate a particular variety of chile pepper, or the variety of things chile peppers make possible.

Below, are holidays that pay tribute chile peppers (directly or indirectly), along with a few holidays for the growers of chile peppers. If we've missed one, be sure to let us know. Additionally, there are a number of annual regional festivals that celebrate chile peppers.

Is There a Chile Pepper Day?

While we're pleased to know that November is National Pepper Month, we find it disappointing that there doesn't appear to be a widely accepted day dedicated to the chile pepper. We've found very few mentions of August 5th, though that's more specifically known as Green Peppers Day. Given the holidays chile peppers have inspired and their importance within many cultural recipes, one would think they should have their own special day of recognition and celebration. Is it possible there's an "International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day" and not a Chile Pepper Day?
